Communicating with Cam
Throughout this whole process of making this music video the only communication we had with cam was via text or a phone call so it was a little awkward as we are at different colleges so timing it right to get everything done was key. cam is able to drive so he was able to travel to us and to the venue, this was helpful.
Location
The location that we have booked is yellow bean studios in Leicester as it was the cheapest and the nicest that we could afford as we are on a tight budget, overall this is costing us £94, £64 for the room hire its self and then £30 for the lights that he will be providing us at £2.50 per hour. Also on top of that we had to pay a £40 deposit that we would get back after filming as long as the room wasn't damaged or marked in anyway.
Assigned roles
Lauren Bolton- Art director, Filmer (camera)
ART DIRECTOR - Various artists may create or develop specific parts of an art piece or scene, but it is the charge of a sole art director to supervise and unify the vision. In particular, the art director is in charge of the overall visual appearance and how it communicates visually, stimulates moods, contrasts features, and psychologically appeals to a target audience. The art director makes decisions about visual elements used, what artistic style to use, and when to use motion. One of the most difficult problems that art directors face is to translate desired moods, messages, concepts, and underdeveloped ideas into imagery. During the brainstorming process, art directors, co-workers, and clients are engaged in imagining what the finished piece or scene might look like. At times, an art director is ultimately responsible for solidifying the vision of the collective imagination while resolving conflicting agenda and inconsistencies between the various individual inputs.
FILMIER - A camera operator, also called a cameraman or a camerawoman, is a professional operator of a film or video camera. In film making, the leading camera operator is usually called a cinematographer, while a camera operator in a video production may be known as a television camera operator, video camera operator, or video graphed, depending on the context and technology involved, usually operating a professional video camera.
Lauren Roberts- Director of photography - Director
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY - A cinematographer or director of photography (sometimes shortened to DP or DOP) is the chief over the camera and lighting crews working on a film, television production or other live action piece and is responsible for achieving artistic and technical decisions related to the image. The study and practice of this field is referred to as cinematography.
DIRECTOR - A film director is a person who directs the making of a film. Generally, a film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualizes the script while guiding the technical crew and actors in the fulfillment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members, production design, and the creative aspects of film making. In some European countries, the director is viewed as the author of the film.
Sophie Beeston- Performer, Costume and make up
PERFORMER - Performers are tactical entertainers, concrete in speech and utilitarian in action. In social situations, they are informative and expressive. The most fun-loving of all the types, Performers excel at delighting others with their artistry and humor. They continually seek stimulating experiences with those around them. Performers dislike being alone, which is seldom a problem because they naturally attract the attention of other people. They live in the fast lane, keeping abreast of the latest trends. They are drawn to sensory pleasure, sometimes without thought for the consequences. Though Performers are more subject to temptation than the other types, their zest for enjoying life is mostly a healthy pursuit. Incurable optimists, they are generous to a fault. They live in the moment and trust that tomorrow will take care of itself.
Filming Day
Today we filmed our final video material that we will use to create the final piece for our A2 work. we are yet to decide on a new band name as we feel it sounds too much like bands that already exist. This will be resolved buy the end of this coming week. The material that we shot looks really good and we feel one pieced together it will make a really good music video. On the final bit of the editing process we will out a twist on our video that we are yet to tell people as we don't want to give anything away just yet.
When we arrived at the location we were filming at we were met by Merlin the owner of 151 studio, he showed us around the place giving a tour of the recording studio also. We were then taken through to the white room where we were filming. He showed us how 3 point lighting worked and showed us also how to set the studio up, once we had had the talk through, we stared to film, we arrived 45 minutes early however he let us start for free of charge. Then we had 4 hours to shoot our video.

Rehearsal
We didn't manage to finish the whole dance however, Sophie and cam are going to be communicating up until the Tuesday of filming and making the dance up so hat they can just perform it, this is a very risky step but with the time limit we have, we have no other choice. we are all feeling confident that this will work as its not just a continues shot its spilt so we will be able to go over steps whilst there setting up for the next shot.
Email comfirmation
This email has been sent to us to confirm our booking foe the 07/10/2014 at 3.30-7.30 to film our video.
Emaill confirmation
this is the email i received back from Merlin at the yellow bean studios confirming that we can have the studio for hire.
Clothing
For our male dancer Cam he will be wearing tight shorts and a tight top all in black as it will show the body line best when filmed on black and white. as cam already has all this it has been a massive help as we haven't had to spend any money, however for Sophie she will be wearing a leotard with shorts in the bottom, we chose this as if she wad to wear a normal leotard then she would be wearing tights as it would be too revealing, so we are sticking with what she feels comfortable in, this will cost us £16.95 from a website called dance direct.
Reflection week commencing 15/09/2014
After our last week of lessons we seem to be keeping on track with everything, we have contacted many different companies about room hire and have had a lot of replies with offers however, the prices have been way to high. we managed to get in contact with a student from last year that also took media and we contacted the same studio that he used, this was yellow bean studios in Leicester, we emailed, phoned and text him as we were eager to get this studio at good rate as were on a very tight budget. Also Sophie has met with Cam ad started the dance that we will be filming In our video, and all seems to be going well so far. as a group we have been reduced for a 4 to a 3. however we have managed to keep up the standard of work and continued to work as a team and meet all of the deadlines that have been set. ideas are all still flooding in and are been noted down and taken into consideration, for example camera shots and angels what we cloud include in our dance etc.
Relationships
In the dance that we will be filming it will show that Cam the male dancer doesn't want to be dancing with Sophie, the female dancer, he wants to be dancing with someone else and certain aspects of the dance will show this throughout, it will become clear to the viewer. The song lyrics "my body is a cage" is telling us that Cam is trapped by Sophie as he cant dance with "the one he loves" and hopefully this will become clear as the dance develops. So between Cam and Sophie no relationship is going on, apart from Sophie loving cam but is getting no attention back from him.
Dance post
After the first rehersal with cam we have made up one travel section and tried some lifts out to see what would work the videos posted are only marked, the next time I see cam on Tuesday we will add everything together and by the end of it have a final dance that we will film the following Tuesday after. I feel confident hat it will e done on time to meet the schedule and will post our progress throughout sections of the dance.
Lyrics
"My Body Is A Cage"
My body is a cage that keeps me
From dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
My body is a cage that keeps me
From dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
I'm standing on a stage
Of fear and self-doubt
It's a hollow play
But they'll clap anyway
My body is a cage that keeps me
From dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
I'm living in an age
That calls darkness light
Though my language is dead
Still the shapes fill my head
I'm living in an age
Whose name I don't know
Though the fear keeps me moving
Still my heart beats so slow
My body is a cage that keeps me
From dancing with the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
My body is a
My body is a cage
We take what we're given
Just because you've forgotten
That don't mean you're forgiven
I'm living in an age
That screams my name at night
But when I get to the doorway
There's no one in sight
I'm living in an age
That laughs
When I'm dancing
With the one I love
But my mind holds the key
You're standing next to me
My mind holds the key
Set my spirit free
Set my spirit free
Set my body free
Set my body free

Dance
Dance is a type of art that involves movement of the body, often performed to music. It is performed in ways to show the audience an emotional expression and is sometimes used to express ideas or tell a story.
"Great dancers are not great because of their technique they are great because of their passion"
This quote is inspiring as from a dancers prospectus as it doesn't matter how well you can dance its how you decide to perform the piece when completed.
There are many different styles of dance including:-
- jazz
- tap
- modern
- gym
- contemporary
- ballet
- ballroom
- Latin
- lyrical
Hair and Make Up
For our music video we want to go for a plain and simple look, so as for the make up we are having a pale face so that the light picks up the facial features and emotions easier than it would if you were to have a full face of make up on.
Also for the hair for cam the boy dancer i want it to be still with no movement so almost giving off a harsh vision as he is trapped 'in the cage' this is representing that he is isolated. As for the girl dancer she will be having her hair half up and half down to flow with the music and give the dance more passion.

Enquirery about room hire
obviously at this sort of price we wouldn't be using these rooms but were just looking at how much it is so were still looking round for ideas of prices
